ECI arrives in Srinagar, to hold deliberations with political parties, others over conduct of Assembly polls

Srinagar: Election Commission of India (ECI) arrived in Srinagar on a two day visit to Jammu & Kashmir to get feedback from political parties and other stakeholders including police and civil administration about conduct of upcoming Assembly elections in the UT, officials said Thursday.

Quoting officials, the news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC) reported that ECI arrived at SKICC where it will hold deliberations with the representatives of political parties, police, civil administration and other stakeholders on holding of Assembly polls in J&K.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar along with Election Commissioners will meet the representatives of political parties including National Conference, PDP, Congress, BJP, Peoples Conference, Apni Party besides the officers from police and the civil administration.

Sources said that meetings will start shortly. ECI is on a two-day visit to J&K from today. The Commission is scheduled to travel to Jammu region tomorrow to meet stakeholders and leaders of political parties there.
