22 Prestigious Awards to be Conferred on 10th National Handloom Day

Around 800 weavers from across the country to attend event: Ministry of Textiles
Srinagar: The Ministry of Textiles Tuesday said that a total of 22 awards, including 5 Sant Kabir Awards and 17 National Handloom Awards will be conferred on the occasion of the 10th National Handloom Day tomorrow.
The Ministry said that celebrations will be observed across the country, with the main function to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi where around 800 weavers from across the country are going to attend the event.
On the occasion, the Vice President of India will be the Chief Guest besides Union Textiles Minister, Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, Rachna Shah, Secretary Textiles and Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms) will be attending the function along with other dignitaries like MPs, eminent personalities, Designers, Exporters, Senior Govt. Officers etc.
“This day seeks to honour the handloom workers of the country and provide motivation and sense of pride to the handloom industry by appreciating their contribution to the cultural, traditional and economic landscape of the country,” the Ministry of Textiles added.
