People being disempowered day by day; want to remind PM, HM of their promises to restore J&K’s statehood: G H Mir
Srinagar: Police on Tuesday foiled the Apni party’s protest march, held for the restoration of statehood to J&K, in Srinagar.
As per the news agency CNS, the protest, started from Apni Party office in Srinagar, was foiled by police before its culmination at the Press Enclave Srinagar. In the protest, Apni party leaders and workers took part and demanded the restoration of statehood to J&K.
During the protest, slogans which reverberated in the air included: “Restore the Statehood”, “We want justice” and “Apni Party Zindabad”.
However, the protesting leaders and workers of Apni party were stopped by police outside the party’s office.
“Protest is being conducted because the Prime Minister and Home Minister had promised to restore J&K’s statehood which has not been done yet. Instead, people are being disempowered day by day. We want to remind them to restore statehood of J&K and not violate the rights here,” said Apni Party Sr. Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir while talking to reporters during the protest in Srinagar.
Other protesting leaders of the Apni party also slammed the centre for dilly-dallying over the restoration of statehood to J&K despite the passing of around five years.
