South Kashmir Road Accident Claims Entire Family of Cop

Kokernag: Eight members of a single family lost their lives in a tragic accident in Daksum area of south Kashmir on Saturday.

The deceased, all residents of Kishtawar, were traveling in a Maruti Swift (JK03H9017) from Kishtawar to Marwah via Sinthan Top when their vehicle met with a fatal crash.

An official said that the accident occurred when the vehicle veered off the road under unknown circumstances, leading to the tragic loss of all occupants.

“Emergency services arrived on the scene but were unable to save the family members,” he said.

A police officer said that they are investigating the cause of the accident.

The deceased were identified as Policeman Imtiyaz Rather (45), son of Ghulam Rasool Rather, Afroza Begum (40), wife of Imtiyaz Rather, Reshma (40), wife of Majid Ahmad, Areeba Imtiyaz (12), daughter of Imtiyaz Rather, Aniya Jan (10), daughter of Imtiyaz Rather, Abaan Imtiyaz (6), daughter of Imtiyaz Rather, Musaib Majid (16), son of Majid Ahmad and Mushail Majid (8), son of Majid Ahmad.(KNS)
