A caravan of nearly 4,500 pilgrims left for Kashmir from Bhagwati Nagar base camp

Srinagar: The 15th batch of about 4500 Yatris from Bhagwati Nagar base camp of Jammu, on Friday morning, amid tight security, arrived in Kashmir.

Official sources said that 4 thousand 434 pilgrims in 165 small and big vehicles from Bhagwati base camp on Friday morning to Nanun Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and Baltal base camps in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir. He said that out of these pilgrims, 2 thousand 713 pilgrims left for Pahalgam base camp while 1 thousand 721 pilgrims left for Baltal base camp. From the base camp, 81 thousand 644 pilgrims have left for Kashmir to visit the Holy Shrine so far.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on the morning of June 28, flagged off the first batch of 4,603 pilgrims to Kashmir from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, making the start of the 52-day long pilgrimage to the Shrine at a height of about 13000 feet in the South kashmir Himalayas.

The administration, civil society organizations, trade unions and the locals gave a warm welcome to the pilgrims. All arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
