Tragic Bus Accident in Unnao Claims 18 Lives, Over 30 Injured

Unnao, Uttar Pradesh: A tragic road accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao claimed 18 lives and left over 30 people injured. The incident occurred at 5:15 a.m. when a double-decker sleeper bus traveling from Motihari, Bihar, to Delhi collided with a milk container near Gadha Village in the Behtamujawar Police Station area.

Police officials from the Behta Mujawar police station rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, who were initially taken to the Community Health Centre in Bangarmau, Unnao. Later, five critically injured victims were referred to Lucknow for advanced treatment, while the rest were shifted to the District Hospital in Unnao for further care.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and instructed district administration officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

 

The Chief Minister said, “The loss of life in a road accident in Unnao district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved families. District administration officials have been instructed to reach the spot and speed up the relief work. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed souls and provide a speedy recovery to the injured.”

The accident is currently under investigation by the local authorities.
