Jammu: A massive search operation is underway in the Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir, following a militant ambush that killed five Army soldiers on July 8. The attack, which also injured five soldiers, occurred on the Machedi-Kindli Malhar road in a remote area of Kathua district.
The ambush is believed to be part of a larger campaign by Pakistan to disrupt the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The area where the attack took place is a known infiltration route along the international border, which has been reactivated by militants. The Army personnel who lost their lives were from Uttarakhand. They are Rifleman Anuj Negi from Pauri, Nayab Subedar Anand Singh Rawat from Rudraprayag, Naik Vinod Singh from Tehri, Kamal Singh from Pauri and Adarsh Negi from Tehri.

The search operation, launched by security forces, aims to flush out the militants and prevent further attacks in the region. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the incident, which comes on the heels of several other terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, including a recent attack on a bus carrying pilgrims to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
The surge in militant activity in the region has prompted a high alert, and security forces are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of civilians and security personnel.(ANI)
