Kulgam: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested a Fair Price Shop Dealer, Ajaz Ahmad Malik, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹4000.

In a Statement issued to Asian Mail, a spokesperson said that the ACB received a complaint that Malik, the dealer of the Fair Price Shop at Pati Bongam, Kulgam, was denying ration to a complainant and demanding a bribe of ₹7500 for releasing the ration and completing KYC formalities.
The complainant paid ₹4000 as bribe and approached the ACB, which laid a trap and caught Malik red-handed while accepting the bribe. The bribe amount was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses.
“On receipt of the complaint, a case FIR No. 03/2024 u/s 7 of P/C Act was registered at ACB Police Station Anantnag and investigation taken up. During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant,” it added.
It said that the money was also recovered while further investigation into the case is going on.
