Srinagar Police Holds Daylong Workshop On New Major Criminal Laws At KU Hazratbal

SP Hazratbal Gave Insights On Provision Of New Criminal Laws

Srinagar: Owing to changes in new major criminal laws District Police Srinagar, Zone Hazratbal, Thursday organized one day workshop to educate the general public besides students/teaching and non-teaching staff, at Ibn-Khaldun Auditorium Hall, University of Kashmir, under civic action programme, 2024-25. The event has witnessed more than 200 participants.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that itroductory session began with the deliberations of SDPO Zakura Ashiq Hussain (JKPS), who delivered his thoughts/ speech about new major criminal laws and addressed how the new criminal laws are different and better proposed.

A group discussion was held and Dr. Naseer Iqbal Registrar, University of Kashmir and Mohammad Hussain (Professor) Head and Dean School of Law University of Kashmir, besides Hilal Khaliq Bhat-JKPS  and shared their thoughts about the implementation/Practice and highlighted the new criminal law system as different from earlier ones.

Besides, the speakers among the notables who also attended the programme were Chief Proctor Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad (Special Secretary to Hon’ble vice chancellor University of Kashmir), and Assistant Professor Mir Mubashir Altaf. The lectures were followed by an open Quiz session. The enthusiastic students and other audience took part gleefully.

The students also shared their views and a 10-minute open discussion also gave insights into the subject.

A voluntary lecture was also given by Dr. Sabha Manzoor of School of Law University of Kashmir regarding the subject of the workshop.
