Bhat confirmed his departure, stating he left with “dignity and respect.” He expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s handling of the recent Lok Sabha elections, particularly Sajad Lone’s decision to contest from Baramulla without consulting the party’s Parliamentary Board, of which Bhat was chairman.

Bhat further stated that he was not invited to a core group meeting yesterday, which he considered a further humiliation. He emphasized that he could not tolerate such treatment and therefore decided to leave the party.

Bhat’s departure comes after the People’s Conference faced defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, with Sajad Lone losing to independent candidate Er Rashid in Baramulla.
