Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, chaired a meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir yesterday to review security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2024.
The meeting was attended by senior police officers from across the Kashmir Zone, including DIGs from Central, North, and South Kashmir, all district SSPs, and heads of specialized units like Traffic, Security, and APCR.

Officers presented detailed security plans for their respective districts, outlining specific measures for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. IGP Birdi emphasized the importance of a unified approach to managing potential security challenges, including natural and man-made disasters.
He stressed the need for robust security measures along highways, including vigilant patrolling and monitoring by Road Opening Parties. IGP Birdi also instructed officers to ensure strong night patrols to prevent any incidents.
The meeting also reviewed the schedule and cutoff timings for vehicles bound for the pilgrimage.
