Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday protested against the Congress Party for imposition of Emergency in the country in 1975.

The J&K Unit of BJP hit streets chanting slogans against Congress party and calling it a murderer of democracy in India.

“Democracy ka qatil kaun Congress party aur kaun,” protestors shouted the slogans outside their Office in Raj Bagh in Srinagar according to KNS correspondent.

Senior BJP leader Engineer Ajaz Hussain said: on this day Congress party led by Indra Gandhi tried to destroy the democratic setup in the country. Media persons, elected representatives, civil society members were put behind bars. It was unprecedented in the history of India and she did continue in power,” he told KNS.

People of the country should understand how Congress tried to murder democracy in the country and continues to do so even today, he added. ( KNS).
