 5 drug peddlers in South Kashmir arrested ; Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar:  Police on Saturday have arrested 5 drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama & Kulgam districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued to Asian Mail, Police spokesperson said that they have arrested a drug peddler identified as Shahid Salam Ganie son of Ab Salam Ganie resident of Sirnoo, along with contraband substance.


He said a case  FIR No. 108/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation was initiated.
He said futher that Police started following Shahid Salam Ganie’s disclosure and the evidence surfaced during the investigation, police conducted raids at multiple locations, resulting in the recovery of a Heroin weighing approximately 80 grams. Consequently, three more accused persons were arrested. They have been identified as Abrar Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad Khan resident of Prichoo, Tariq Ahmad Ganie son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie resident of Chandgam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Ab Ahad Wani resident of Chandgam.

Meanwhile in Kulgam, a Police party of Police Station Manzgam under the supervision of SHO PS Manzgam intercepted a Scooty bearing registration number JK03G-3801, at a checkpoint established at main road Korel near Mirwani Crossing. During search, 500 grams of Charas was recovered from the scooty rider, identified as Mohd Yaqoob Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Kher Kadal Takibal Bijebhara. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized, reads the statement.

In this regard a case vide FIR No. 32/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Manzgam and investigation has been set into motion.
