129 cases registered, 210 vehicle seized and 210 persons arrested: Police

Baramulla: Police have registered 129 cases and arrested 210 persons for being involved in extraction/ transportation of minerals during the five months of 2024. Moreover, 210 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals which includes 91 Tippers, 113 Tractors & 6 excavators have also been seized from different areas of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail, Police spokesperson said that Police along with the Mineral Department realised a fine in lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district.

He further said that these violators are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people’s health, the ecology and the revenue of the government.
