Kulgam encounter: Third militant killed, operation on

Kulgam: One more militant has been killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, taking the toll to 3.

A top police officer told a Srinagar-based news agency, Kashmir Scroll, that one more terrorist has been killed today. However, the identity of the slain is yet to be ascertained.

He said searches are still underway in the area.

On Tuesday, top TRF commander Basit Dar was among the two terrorists killed in the encounter.

The operation was launched on Monday evening after security forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired on the team, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.

Today, the firing exchange took place again after a terrorist hiding in the debris opened fire on the forces, who retaliated.
