Woman tourist dies, another injured in Sonamarg accident


Srinagar: A lady tourist was killed while another pedestrian was injured after being hit by a vehicle in Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday, officials said.

Quoting officials, news agency KNO reported that a vehicle bearing registration no, JKO1T-0637 hit two persons including a female tourist in Sonamarg leaving them critically injured.

Both the injured were taken to the hospital where the female tourist identified as Sushila, 67 wife of late Babu Rao, resident of Pune was declared dead on arrival, said officials.

While the injured has been identified as Mehraj Ahmad Ganaie, son of Mashoq Ahmad Ganaie, resident of Haril in north Kashmir’s Handwara.

The critically injured Ganaie has been immediately referred to SKIMS, Soura for enhanced treatment, said the officials.
