Mirwaiz Expresses Grief Over Weather-Induced Devastation, Urges Community Support

Srinagar: Mirwaiz Kashmir Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, voiced deep concern regarding the flood situation prompted by relentless, fierce rains affecting the northern, southern regions of Kashmir, and the wider Chenab area. He has called on people to hold special prayers across mosques, dargahs, khanqahs, shrines, and imambarahs, seeking divine intervention from Almighty Allah to safeguard against natural calamities.

Mirwaiz  lamented the tragic loss of lives and property, including the demise of five tourists and the reported disappearance of numerous individuals in the Gagangeer area of Sonamarg, and a child’s drowning in Sopore. He also highlighted the extensive flooding of numerous villages throughout northern Kashmir, the displacement of thousands, and significant damage to fruit crops in southern Kashmir due to the catastrophic weather conditions.

In these challenging times, Dr. Farooq emphasized the critical need for community solidarity, particularly urging the affluent to step forward and assist in the rehabilitation efforts for those affected.

He extended his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families who have suffered from these tragic events, affirming that the Kashmiri community profoundly shares the sorrow of the bereaved families.
