Three drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam

Kulgam: Police have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possessions, said police on Monday.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail, the police spokesperson said during search att Bonigam, a suspicious person identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Sonauallah Dar, resident of Bonigam carrying a bag who tried to flee from the spot. After search, 3.1 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag was recovered from his possession, he added.

Meanwhile, a police spokesperson said during a patrolling two persons were found suspicious at Sopat Maldar link road near Ziyarat Sharief and tried to flee from the spot. He said police recovered 80 grams of Charas like contraband substance from their possession.

“The accused persons identified as Muneeb Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Yaqoob Ganie and Akash Lateef Ganie son of Mohd Lateef Ganie, residents of Nussu Badragund were shifted to police station Devsar where they remain in police custody.

In this regard, a case  FIR number 122/2024 at Police Station Qazigund and a case vide FIR number 33/2024 at police station Devsar under relevant sections of law stands registered and investigation is going on in both cases.
