ECI seeks responses to complaints against PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India Thursday sought responses from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress on alleged violations of poll rules by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi.

In their complaints to the poll panel, the BJP accused Rahul Gandhi and Congress accused PM Modi of making divisive speeches on religion, caste and linguistic issues, read the notices.

The BJP has said in its complaint that Rahul Gandhi sought to create divisions based on linguistic and cultural issues.

The poll panel has sought responses from BJP president JP Nadda and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge by April 29. (KNS)
