Amid dry season in Kashmir Night temperatures record below normal

Srinagar: The evening temperature in Kashmir Valley has been below normal amid forecast of another round of snowfall by the Meteorological Department.

An official at the Meteorological department said that the weather in the valley is likely to remain dry till April 25, but there may be thundershowers at some places after noon.

He said that there is a possibility of intermittent rains in the valley from April 26 to April 29, and during this period light to moderate rains may occur in the plains, while there may be light snowfall in the hilly areas. He said that during this time, hailstorm may occur in some places in the valley and strong winds are also expected.

The farmers have been asked to suspend the work of spraying etc. from April 26 to April 30.

Meanwhile the night temperature was below normal. The summer capital city of Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius, which was 1.9 degrees Celsius below normal.

Gulmarg, a world famous tourist spot in the valley, recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, which was 0.8 degrees Celsius lower than normal. Another popular tourist spot in the valley, Pahalgam, recorded a minimum temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius. The grade was recorded which was 0.4 degrees Celsius lower than normal.

Kupwara recorded a minimum temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, which was 0.9 degrees Celsius below normal. Qazigund, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius.
