Palestine Red Crescent says Israeli military blocked entrance to Al Amal hospital in Gaza

Gaza: The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said on Tuesday that Israeli troops forced the evacuation of the remaining staff and patients of Al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip and then blocked the entrance to the facility.

On Sunday, the PRCS said that it lost communication with its staff in Al Amal Hospital.

“Al-Amal Hospital, in Khan Yunis, is out of service after the occupation forces forced the hospital staff and the wounded to evacuate it and closed its entrances with earthen barriers,” the agency said on X.

A total of 27 employees, six patients, and one accompanying person were evacuated from the hospital in coordination with the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the agency added.

On Saturday, the PRCS said that a total of 364 doctors, nurses, and paramedics had been killed in Gaza since the onset of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalation.

Last October, Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing 1,200 people and abducting around 240 others. Israel launched retaliatory strikes, ordered a complete blockade of Gaza, and started a ground incursion into the Palestinian enclave with the declared goal of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. Over 32,300 people have been killed so far in the Gaza Strip, local authorities said.
