Budgam: A driver of a load carrier vehicle was arrested in central Kashmir’s Budgam district after recovery of contraband substance from his possession, said police on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson said that they intercepted a load carrier (Piazio Auto), bearing registration number JK013-6836, at Sadipora.

“During the search of the said vehicle, charas like substance in grinded form weighing about 534 grams and 06 Charas Sticks wrapped in corn husk weighing about 115 grams were recovered from his possession.

The accused drug peddler identified as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh son of Habibullah Sheikh, a resident of Samboora Pulwama was arrested on the spot and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.

Accordingly, a case FIR No 20/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been taken up, they added.
