PM Modi & his Mauritius counterpart virtually inaugurates key development projects

New Delhi :Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Mauritius counterpart Pravind Kumar Jugnauth on Thursday inaugurated the developmental projects at the Agaleaga Island in Mauritius through video conferencing.

The projects include the new Airstrip and Saint James Jetty along with six community development projects.

Speaking on this occasion, Modi termed the India-Mauritius relationship vibrant and unique and said, “These facilities will enhance air and sea connectivity strengthening maritime security. It will also give a boost to the socio-economic development of the Agalega Island”.

Calling Mauritius an important partner in India’s neighbourhood policy, he said, “India got the opportunity to develop several infrastructural projects including development of metro line, community development project, social housing, ENT hospital, Civil Service College, and sports complex”.

The Prime Minister said the developmental projects in Agalega Island will strengthen the ease of living and improve the connectivity.

“India and Mauritius have shared priorities as members of the Global South and both the nations are working to ensure stability and security in the Indian Ocean Region”, he added.

Mauritius Prime Minister termed the unveiling of the developmental projects as historic.

He said, the setting of new airstrips and the jetty is the fulfilment of Mauritius dream…adding this could not be possible without the assistance of India.

Jugnauth lauded the role of Modi for giving assistance to Mauritius and giving a new dimension to the bilateral ties.
