Omar hits out at Azad, says he was begging for RS seat in 2015

Srinagar: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday hit out at Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad and said that the former Congress leader was begging them for Rajya Sabha seat in J&K in 2015.

Omar’s attack came after Azad alleged that there was rumour that Abdullah’s ( Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah) knew about the abrogation of Article 370 before hand and for public posturing they themselves asked government to keep them in jail. Azad also said the NC leaders were often seeking late-night appointments with Central leaders.

The NC Vice President mocked Azad’s assertions.

“Wah bhai wah Ghulam Nabi Azad, so much bile today. Where is the Ghulam that was begging us for Rajya Sabha seat in J&K as recently as 2015? “Abdullahs knew about 370” yet we were detained for more than 8 months including under PSA & you were free, the only ex CM in J&K free after 5th Aug.

“Abdullahs meet secretly” yet my father is the one thrown out of his Govt house when he wasn’t MP & you are allowed to keep your ministerial bungalow?,” he posted on X.

On allegations by Azad that NC leaders, speak different languages in Hindu-dominated Jammu and Muslim-dominated Kashmir to woo voters, Omar responded,“ Abdullahs say one thing in Kashmir & another in Delhi” yet PM cries for you in Rajya Sabha & criticises us in every speech. Let’s not forget the Padma award for which you agreed to leave Congress & help BJP in Chenab valley. Who is azad & who is ghulam, time will tell & people will decide,” Omar added.

Earlier today, Omar’s father Farooq Abdullah also slammed Azad and termed the allegation baseless.

“If I have to meet PM Modi or Union HM, I will meet them during the day, why should I meet them at night? He should tell the names of his agents who are sitting at the residence of PM & Home Minister,” Abdullah said.
