Police arrests notorious drug peddler in Kulgam

Kulgam: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Thursday have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A Spokesperson said, “A police party of police post Nihama established a checkpoint (Naka) at Nihama near the bridge. During checking one person identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat a resident of Chogalpora Manzgam on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot, however he was apprehended tactfully by the alert Police party. During his personal search, 340 grams of Cannabis powder and 30 grams of Charas like contrabands were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the Police Station where he remains in custody.”

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 12/2024 under section 8/20 NDPS act has been registered at Police Station Damhal Hanjipora and investigation has been initiated”, he said.
