Internet services restored in Rajouri and Poonch districts after 24-hour suspension, with limited speed of 2G

Poonch: Internet services have been restored in the districts of Rajouri and Poonch after a 24-hour suspension.

Reliable sources told Srinagar based news agency that this comes after prohibitory orders were imposed in Jammu and security was increased in the twin districts due to concerns over the grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari community.

They said that the service has been restored with a limited speed of 2G.

Pertinently, the Lok Sabha passed the Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 on Tuesday. This bill aims to include four communities, namely Gadda Brahmin, Koli, Paddari Tribe, and Pahari Ethnic Group, in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir. This recognition of the Pahari community as a Scheduled Tribe is a significant step towards ensuring their rights and representation.
