Kulgam: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Shampora crossing intercepted one suspicious person Imran Ahmad Ganie S/O Mohd Ramzan Ganie R/O Nassu Badragond carrying a nylon bag. But after noticing police party, he tried to flee from the spot. He was Chased and apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. During search, officers present were able to recover 06 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in the said nylon bag from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 34/2024 under section 8/15 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
