Bengal U-23 team bag first innings lead after draw against Bihar in Col C K Nayudu Trophy

Kolkata: Bengal Under-23 team bagged first innings lead after their Col C K Nayudu Trophy match against Bihar ended in a draw as bad light played spoilsport on the final day at the BCA Ground, Kalyani, on Wednesday.

With the home side just three wickets away from a fantastic victory, bad light stopped play and as the conditions showing no signs of improvement, stumps were drawn and Bengal were awarded first innings lead.

At the time of stoppage of play, Bihar, chasing a massive 352 runs to win, were struggling at 218/7 on the fourth and final day.

Rohit Kumar (4-24) was the pick of the bowlers for Bengal while Vaibhav Yadav, Debopratim Halder and Anubhav Tyagi bagged a wicket each.

For Bihar, Md Alam (71) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (62) were impressive with the bat.

Earlier, after posting 261 in their first innings, Bengal bundled out Bihar for just 180 to grab a big first-innings lead. Bengal, in their second innings, managed to post 270/9 decl. to hand a challenging target to the visitors.
