Police arrests 5 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

Baramulla: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 5 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Wussan headed by IC PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora, intercepted one person. During the search, 53 grams of contraband Charas-like substances was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Sajad Rasool Dar son of Gh Rasool Dar resident of Palhallan Pattan. He was arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remained in custody.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO PS Uri at a checkpoint established at Laghama-Paranpeelan road near Forest hut, intercepted four persons. During the search, 70 grams of contraband Charas like substances was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Nowkhaiz Khan Awan  son of Kalu Khan Awan, Yasir Ahmad Khan son of Shakeel Ahmad both residents of Paranpeelan, Abdul Waheed Ganie son of Abdul Qayoom resident of Tilawari & Sibti Hassan Halwai son of Ibin Hassan resident of Kila Kiratpur Bijnor UP at present Uri. They were arrested and shifted to PS Uri where they remained in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Pattan & Uri and investigations have been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
