Chennai: A chess tournament for school students was held at Hansa Garden Residential Complex, East Tambaram on the occasion of Republic Day.
Students in various age groups participated in these competitions, according to a press release.
D.Kavya Haasini, a 9th grade student at Zion International School, won the first prize in the 12 and above age category.
Priya Jayaraman, secretary of the residential complex and administrators felicitated the winning student with a certificate.
Before the matches, the Indian national flag was hoisted in the campus and sweets were distributed to all.
School students addressed the importance and glories of Republic Day of India during the event.
