Confronting Sumo Driver on Seating Capacity, Pregnant Lady ‘Pushed Out’ of Vehicle in Srinagar

Srinagar: A pregnant lady was allegedly pushed out of a Sumo vehicle by its driver in Srinagar after she objected to the carrying of passengers beyond the seating capacity.

The victim lady told the news agency CNS that she had boarded a sumo bearing registration number JK04-579 at Rainawari area and was forcibly pushed out of the vehicle after she confronted the driver for allowing four passengers in the sumo vehicle’s middle row.

“I had simply asked the driver why he is permitting four passengers to sit on the middle seat of the vehicle when only three persons are allowed.
He opened the window and pushed me outside with no regard that I am pregnant,” said the lady.

She said that the driver treated her with no compunction and imperiously told her that they carry four passengers on the middle seat of the vehicle.

While talking to a traffic police officer regarding the incident, he assured to look into the matter and would take action against the erring driver under the law.
