Two Gamblers Arrested in South Kashmir, Stake Money Recovered: Police

Kulgam: Police on Thursday said that they have arrested two gamblers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered a stake money of Rs. 6,800 from their possession.

In an X post police said that they acted swiftly after receiving a specific information generated from reliable sources regarding gambling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qazigund.

“A police party raided the suspected gambling site at Furrah and caught two gamblers red handed while playing cards,” police said.

The accused have been identified as Afroz Ahmad Tantray son of Abdul Rehman Tantray and Mohammad Rafiq Wani son of Gull Mohammad Wani, both residents of Furrah.

“From the spot, a stake money of Rs. 6,800 and a set of playing cards were recovered,” police said, adding that a case with FIR No.16/2024 under section 13 of the Gambling Act was registered at the Police station Qazigund and further investigation has been taken up.
