PM Modi pays tributes to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on his birth anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on his 357th birth anniversary, saying “his life remains a source of strength for several people.”.

In the social media post X, “I pay homage to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on his Parkash Utsav and recall his courage as well as compassion. His life remains a source of strength for several people.”.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to him, saying he dedicated his life to promoting equality and justice in our society.

“I bow to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the special occasion of his Jayanti. He dedicated his life to promoting equality and justice in our society. His courage, bravery, and sacrifice will continue to inspire the coming generations,” he said in a social media post on X.

Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, was born on December 2, 1666, in Patna, Bihar.

He was the son of Guru Tegh Bahadur (the 9th Guru) and Mata Gujri. In 1956, his father was killed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to adopt Islam. In 1676, at the age of 9, he was proclaimed to be the tenth Guru of Sikhs.

The greatest achievement of Guru Gobind Singh was his creation of Khalsa in 1699.

He introduced the five Ks (Kesh, Kara, Kanga, Kachera, and Kirpan) to the community.
