Police Arrest Five Drivers For Illegal Extraction, Transportation of Minerals in Kulgam

Kulgam: In connection with an illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police on Tuesday arrested five drivers and seized their vehicles.

As per the news agency CNS, a police spokesperson in a statement said that the police party led by DySP HQRS Kulgam along with SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal during patrolling at Matalhama, Kulgam arrested five drivers and seized their vehicles after being found involved in the illegal extraction of minerals and its transportation.

Police have identified the arrested drivers as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, a resident of Sumarbugh, Lasian; Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Muhammad Dar, a resident of Zanipora, Pampora; Fayaz Ahmad Reshi son of Nazir Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Lethpora, Pulwama; Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, a resident of Lethpora, Pulwama and Javid Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan Dar, a resident of Lethpora, Pulwama. “The five dumpers used in the illegal activity were also seized.”

In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at police station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up, police said.
