VYOM, 2023: Two days Purple Fest organized at Abhedananda Home, Srinagar

Div Com Kmr inaugurates event

Srinagar: Breaking barriers, a first-ever festival to honour Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) – VYOM, 2023 inclusive two days Purple Fest was today organized by the Department of Social Welfare at Abhedananda Home, Srinagar.

The fest was organized with the objectives of  raising profiles and enhancing recognition of PWDs, showcasing talents and strengths of Divyangs, promoting PWDs as partners of growth, progression towards an accessible  and equitable world and creating an ecosystem for PWDs and bringing stakeholders together for implementing RPWD Act.

The event was graced by the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bhiduri as chief guest- who officially inaugurated the event.

The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and various organizations for their efforts in enlightening the lives of specially-abled children and encouraged them to keep up their hard work.

The two day event turned spectacular with the colourful performances and sports activities of the children with special-abilities.

On day one, different Cultural Activities were performed by the specially-abled persons associated with various Institutions/ NGOs. Besides this Cricket and Carrom Matches were played among the participants of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal.

 On day two, Cultural Activities along with Matches of Badminton, Tug of War and Art Competitions were held.

Later the Winners of the different matches were felicitated for their outstanding performances and all the other participants were given participation certificates

Mohammad Shafi Check, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir attended the programme as the guest. He highlighted and appreciated the role of parents and teachers in illuminating children with special needs.
