Dense fog engulfs Delhi-NCR, affected flight & train movement, mercury dips to 7 deg

New Delhi:  A very dense fog engulfed parts of Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning, impacting the movement of trains and flights to and from the national capital.

As per the Delhi Airport Authority, around 110 flights have been affected on Wednesday morning as visibility dropped to just 50 metres.

As many as 25 trains headed to Delhi are delayed, the Northern Railways said.

Meanwhile, IMD issued a red alert over “very dense fog” in the national capital as cold wave conditions continued.

The Weather Agency forecasts foggy weather for the next three days. Along with that, Delhiites would breathe in excessively polluted air as the air quality is in the “severe” category on Wednesday.

The temperature on Wednesday is likely to be 24 degrees Celsius at the maximum and 7 at the minimum, as per IMD.

“The fog will continue for the next few days. On Wednesday, there are chances of dense to very dense fog. The condition will remain so with visibility of 50 metres of lower during morning in all of north-west India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, western and eastern UP and northern Rajasthan” Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist with IMD, said.
