Goods Worth Lakhs Damaged in Godown Fire in Kulgam

Kulgam: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted after a fire broke out on Tuesday in a godown in south Kashmir Kulgam district’s Okey area, locals said.

As per the news agency CNS, the locals said that the godown, containing mostly expensive electronic items, was engulfed by the fire, which damaged the whole of the structure besides flames consuming goods like TVs, Refrigerators, Washing Machines etc.

The owner of the electronic godown has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat, a resident of Okey, Kulgam. To contain the fire, the firefighters reached the spot of the incident and brought the flames under control along with the help of locals and police.

In the tragic incident, the owner of the godown has reckoned the damage incurred to be in lakhs of rupees and said that he is hopeful of receiving assistance from the district administration.

However, the reason behind the fire was prima facie said to be a short circuit.
