Sensex rises 83 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Monday rose 83 points to 69,871.84, a new high in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 11.65 points to 20,957.75.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 70,057.83 and 69,797.15 points, respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 21,026.10 and 20,923.70 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap gained 0.55 pc and the Small Cap gained 0.60 pc.

In 30 scrips, 14 advanced, 15 declined, and one remained unchanged.

The gainers were Ultracemco by 1.56 pc to Rs 9546.25, Powergrid by 1.12 pc to Rs 231.10, Tata Motors by 0.98 pc to Rs 721.65, and HCL Technologies by 0.92 pc to Rs 1375.40.

The losers were Asian Paints by 0.66 pc to Rs 3211.80, Axis Bank by 0.64 pc to Rs 1123.90, and Wipro by 0.66 pc to Rs 419.20.
