Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday confirmed that he will run for reelection, despite having “different thoughts” in past.

Earlier in the day, a Sputnik correspondent reported that Putin has announced his plans to run for reelection in March 2024 during an informal conversation with participants of the special military operation.

“I will not hide that at different times there were different thoughts, but now, you are right, this is the time, we need to decide. I will run for the post of president of the Russian Federation,” Putin told reporters.

The president added that this decision is the only way “in today’s time”
