Sensex falls 132.04 points

Mumbai: Snapping a winning streak of the last seven sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday declined 132.04 points to settle at 69,521.69 as selling was seen in FMCG, technology, and IT stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased 36.55 points to 20,901.15.

The Sensex opened higher at 69,694.15, rising 41 points. Later, it dropped nearly 333 points to 69,320.55, days low, before closing at 69,521.69, sliding 132.04 points from its previous close.

The stocks, which include FMCG, technology, IT, and metal, dragged the market.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.66 pc and the Small Cap by 0.28 pc.

In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 17 declined.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 2.34 percent to Rs 1000, Hind Unilever by 1.80 percent to Rs 2520, Tata Steel by 1.29 percent to Rs 130.10, and ITC by 1.04 pc to Rs 458.20.

The gainers were Powergrid by 2.47 pc to Rs 229.95, Ultracemco by 1.80 pc to be 9376, NTPC by 1.35 pc to Rs 284.95 and SBI by 0.64 pc to Rs 612.
