T20I: India send Australia in to bat, are 30/0 in 4 overs

Visakhapatnam: India won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first game of the five-match T20I series against Australia at Dr YSR Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.

India Captain Suryakumar Yadav rested Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube and Avesh Khan, while Australia Captain Mathew Wade rested Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa and Travis Head.

India were 30/0 in 4 overs with Matt Short and Steve Smith batting on 13 and 15, respectively.

This series offers an opportunity for fringe players to stake their claim in the casket of international cricket. For India, it gives a chance for the national selectors to look at the newcomers like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, Ravi Bishnoi, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma and Jitesh Sharma.

For the Aussies, the series is another chance for Matt Short, Aaron Hardie and Tanveer Sangha to prove their mettle, and a significant opportunity for Steve Smith to press his case as a T20 opener following his Big Bash fireworks last summer.

Teams

India (Playing XI): Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan(w), Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna

Australia (Playing XI): Matthew Short, Steven Smith, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade(w/c), Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Jason Behrendorff, Tanveer Sangha.
