DC Ganderbal chairs PMKKKY plan formulation meeting

Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting to discuss the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) Annual Action Plan in terms of the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojna (PMKKKY) in the district.

District Mineral Officer presented a detailed report about the utilization of funds under DMFT in the areas with high priority and other priority sectors around the approved and allotted mining areas.

At the outset, Shyambir said that the scheme is very important for development of areas affected by mining activities besides mitigating the adverse impacts, during and after mining, on the environment, health and socio-economics of the people living in such areas.

The DC sought the details from the committee members regarding the high priority works that need to be approved under DMFT and funds were earmarked accordingly.

It was decided in the meeting that the available funds shall be utilized for IEC activities regarding solid waste management and other flagship programmes of RDD.

Similarly, the Committee decided that the funds shall also be utilized for renovation and up gradation of Anganwadi Centres and other services of ICDS.

Similarly, it was decided that funds may also be utilized for procurement of assistance devices for disabled persons registered with the Social Welfare department.

To ensure outreach of health facilities in the district, Rs 20 lakh was earmarked for the health department for carrying out various programs of the department.

Furthermore, funds were also allocated to the District Mineral Officer to curb the illegal transportation and extraction of minerals in the district by way of installation of CCTVs and up-gradation of mineral check points.

Meanwhile, other line departments were directed to submit their action plan and submit DPR of emergency nature of works within two days so that funds could be allotted for all possible proposals.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Program Officer ICDS, Chief Agricultural Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Mineral Officer and officials of other departments.
