J&K: Policeman injured in road accident succumbs in SKIMS Srinagar

Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir policeman who was injured in a road accident recently succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Wednesday, police said.

The policeman, identified as 35-year-old Waseem Ahmad Chasti, a resident of the old town of Baramulla, was under treatment at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science Soura (SKIMS) in Srinagar.

Five policemen were injured when a vehicle in which they were traveling skidded off the road in Kurigam-Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on October 24, 2023.

The four other injured policemen are under treatment in the hospital, sources said.

“Injured police personnel succumbed to their injuries and attained martyrdom. We pay our rich tributes to the martyr and stand by his family at this critical juncture. The area has been cordoned off. A search operation is going on”, police said on X.
