Srinagar: A driver of a four wheeler died after his vehicle plunged into the Jhelum river in Galandar area of Pampore on Saturday.

A police official told the news agency CNS that the incident happened after the driver purportedly lost control over his vehicle, bearing registration number JKO2AL-5901, and plunged into the Jhelum river in Pampore’s Galandar area.

He said that the dead body of the driver was retrieved from the river and was handed over to the deceased’s family members after the completion of all medico-legal formalities.

The deceased was identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar, a resident of Galandar, Pampore.

After taking cognizance of the incident, the police said they have also registered a case in this regard.
