Mother-daughter chargesheeted for cheating man of Rs 12 lakh

 

Jammu: Economic Offences Wing Crime Branch Jammu chargesheeted mother-daughter duo for duping a man of Rs 12 lakh for sending her daughter to Canada for higher education. 
 
In a statement, issued to KNS, a spokesperson said that Balwant Kour and Simran Mann of Chandigarh had duped the man of Rs 12 lakh after they promised him to send his daughter to Canada for higher education but later cheated him. 
 
The statement reads that the chargesheet was produced in the court of law for judicial determination. 
 
“The case was registered on a written complaint lodged by Raj Kumar Nischal of Jammu wherein it was alleged that his daughter Aditi Nischal while doing private job as graphic designer in 2016 she came in contact with accused Simran Mann who was also serving there as IELTS teacher assured to her to Canada for higher studies by charging Rs 12 lakh,” it reads.
 
It reads that on the request of his daughter, the complainant transferred the amount to the account of the accused. “When his daughter approached the accused Simran Mann for necessary documentation she dodged her on one pretext or another and finally cheated them.”
 
It added that on receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated and the allegations were prima-facie established and subsequently, the instant case was registered for in-depth investigation. 
 
“Relevant records was seized, statements of witnesses recorded, scientific, circumstantial and other material evidence was gathered and offences of cheating against the accused for luring the complainant and cheating them were established.”
 
It added that while the accused Balwant Kour is on bail after she was arrested by Crime Branch Jammu, her daughter is still at large and proceeding U/S 512 CrPC stands initiated against her.
