02 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam; contraband substance recovered

Budgam: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substance from their possession.
During Naka checking at Hatharan, Police party of Police Post Soibugh intercepted one Scooty bearing registration No *PB10G-1225* coming from Hakermulla towards Soibugh. During preliminary questioning, the Scooty rider disclosed his name as *Harjeet Singh S/o Swarn Singh R/o Mayapur Ludhaina A/P Bemina Srinagar*. The rider was carrying a polythene bag ,during the search of bag, poppy straw (Fukki) around 6 KG was recovered from his possession.
Similarly , during naka checking at Gariend Police party of Police Station Budgam , one person who was carrying a nylon bag on his shoulder, on seeing the Police party fled from the spot and entered into a Jhugi in Brick Kiln 71P, however police party caught hold of him in the Jhugi and enquired from him the reason of fleeing from the spot. During enquiry he revealed his name as Devender Paul Singh S/o Gurdyal Singh R/o Kalan Ludhiana Punjab A/P Brick Kilin 71P and the nylon bag he was carrying was searched and poppy straw like substance was found in it and recovered approximately 10 KG 300 grm of poppy straw. On searching the Jhugi Alcohol like substance was recovered from him which he had stored in eight plastic containers and one drum which he had hidden beneath the bricks.
Both the accused have been arrested and said Scooty used for commission of crime has also been seized.
Case FIR Nos. *281/2023* and *283/2023* under relevant sections of law stands registered at P/S Budgam and investigation taken up.
