Scuffle over Love Affair Leaves One Injured in Ganderbal, Accused Arrested: Police

Srinagar : A love affair with the same girl led a boyfriend to attack another beau with a sharp-edged object at Qamariya Park in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The accused person was arrested, said police on Friday.

As per the news agency CNS, a police spokesperson said that a scuffle broke out between two persons at Qamariya Park Ganderbal on Thursday at around 3:30 PM in which a student, Mohammad Irfan son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh, a resident of Saloora Ganderbal was attacked with a sharp-edged object/thread cutter, resulting in injuries on his back.

Soon after the incident, the injured student was shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal for treatment, he said.

Following the incident, SHO Ganderbal, Manzoor Ahmad, along with the police party reached the spot. “During preliminary investigation, it came to surface that one person namely Abrar Ahmad Parray son of Mohammad Ismail Parray, a resident of Rangil Nagbal had attacked the victim with a sharp object and fled away from the spot,” said the police spokesperson.

Regarding the incident, a case FIR No. 271/2023 under sections of 352, 323, and 341 of IPC was registered in Police Station Ganderbal.

Later, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, a special police team was constituted under the supervision of Dy.Sp Headquarters Ganderbal for the arrest of the accused.

“After strenuous efforts, the police team caught the accused at Nagbal Chowk near the Petrol Pump. During further investigation, it came to the fore that the scuffle had taken place between the duo over a love affair relationship with the same girl. Both victim and accused claimed that they were involved in a love affair with the girl,” the police spokesperson said.

The injured person was said to be stable after being admitted to the hospital immediately after the incident.
