Kokernag Op: Family Identifies Body Of LeT Commander Uzair, Says ADGP Kashmir


Srinagar: The family members of Mohammad Uzair Khan have identified his body, the police said on Tuesday.

Uzair, according to police, was commander of LeT and was killed in a gunfight with a joint team of Police and army in Gadole  Kokernag area of South Anantnag district.

” The family members have identified LeT commander Uzair’s body”, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told GNS.

Earlier, the top police officer of the Kashmir had said that Uzair along with another unidentified militant, whose body is yet to be retrieved were killed during the course of week-long operation which started following the killing of Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer, 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, besides another soldier.
