100 smart buses will significantly improve transportation services: CEO Athar Amir Khan

 

Srinagar: Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Srinagar Smart City Limited, Athar Amir Khan Wednesday said new fleet of smart busses which comprises of 100 buses, will significantly improve the transportation system in city and peripheries.

“Transportation is must in every city. The new fleet of smart buses which comprises of 100 buses will significantly improve the transportation facilities in city and other parts of valley,” CEO SSCL Athar Amir Khan as per KNS said.

He said the SSCL has rolled out Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) plan wherein proper bus stops, charging points, and other required pre-requisites have been put in place for smooth functioning of transportation. “IPTS is actually an excessive exercise. Lot of infrastructure has been made for smooth functioning of services,” CEO SSCL said.

He said the new fleet of busses will improve transportation services in city and other parts of Kashmir valley while as more buses will be procured afterwards for providing convenient travel to people.

“We have procured 9 and 12 meter wide buses. The former will ply in the interiors of city where roads are narrow while as later will ply on wide and major routes,” he said.

He added, “These buses will have inbuilt CCTV through which every activity of passengers will be monitored. These smart buses will have no conductors instead they will have technical assistants. There is adequate arrangements inside the buses for the safety of women folk and elders,” CEO, SSCL added.
