Srinagar: Chhari Mubarak, the silver mace of Swami Amarnath, was taken to the historic Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar for prayers on the occasion of “Haryali-Amavasya” (Shravan Amavasya) on Wednesday.
Led by Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodial of the Chhari Mubarak, the Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnath Ji was taken to Historic Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar located at Gopadri Hills for prayers on the occasion of ‘Haryali-Amavasya’ as per the age-old customs.
Rudrabhishek was also performed.
The sound of conch shell charged the whole atmosphere and Pujan was performed chanting Vedic hymns, a statement said and added that Sadhus who accompanied Holy Mace participated in the prayers that lasted for more than two hours.
Prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir.
Chhari-Mubarak shall be taken to ‘Sharika-Bhawani’ Temple, Hari Parvat, Srinagar to pay obeisance to the Goddess on Thursday.
The two-month-long annual Amarnath Yatra commenced from July 1 and will culminate on August 31.
More than 4.30 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine of Amarnath in the Kashmir Himalayas.
